 Spring Group Exercise Classes end: Thursday, April 24, 2014.

 PE-02 FORMS FOR THE Spring 2014 SEMESTER CAN BE PRINTED OFF THE PE FORM TAB FROM THE FITNESS AND WELLNESS SECTION OF THE ATHLETICS WEBSITE.

Students participate in 15 or more hours of recreation and wellness activities offered through the Department of Athletics. Opportunities include: participation in intramural sports, club sport participation, and pre-approved fitness and wellness activities. Educational lunch and learns, tailored group exercise classes, and other pre-approved events on campus by the Director of Fitness and Wellness. All activities must be validated by a representative from the Department of Athletics to earn credit. Students must register for the course at the beginning of each semester to receive course credit; credit will not be given if a student is not registered for the proper semester. Each student is required to register for two separate semesters of PE-02, with a half of credit earned from each of the two separate semesters.

* Note: For PE 02 Credit, all students must complete the Recreation/ Wellness form with at least 15 signatures from the group exercise instructor to verify completion of 15 hours. At the end of the semester based on your completed form verifying completion of 15 hours, your PE grade of CR will be recorded. This form can be picked up at the Gallagher Center Front Desk or may be printed from the web.

Can I take Group Exercise Classes at another Gym?

You may only receive PE-02 credit from the pre-approved list of Group Exercise classes, Lunch and Learns, Intramural sports, Clubs Sports, and other specified approved Wellness events held on Philadelphia University’s campus that the Director of Fitness and Wellness as pre-approved before the events occurrence.

 

Where do I turn in my form when it is completed?

Return all completed PE-02 Recreation and Wellness forms to the Gallagher Center Front Desk. Any Fitness Attendant or Fitness Manager can and will accept your form. The form will then be turned in and documented by the Director of Fitness and Wellness.

 

How will I know when the completed PE-02 form is due?

I am too busy to take PE-02 in two different semesters; can I just do both .5 credit in one semester?

PE-02 must be taken in two separate semesters, with both semesters requiring 15 hours of participation from pre-approved classes/events here at Philadelphia University. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

I forgot to register for PE-02, but I completed the PE-02 form for the semester, can I still receive credit?

NO, you can only receive credit for PE-02 for the semester that you are registered for. You must be registered for the class by following all deadlines stated by the Registrar’s Office.

 

I am too busy this semester and will not be able to finish my PE-02 required signatures, what do I do.

Contact the Director of Fitness and Wellness my e-mail and set up a meeting time during Office Hours. Ultimately you will receive NC, No Credit, for the semester, but will be granted permission to re-register for a future semester.

 

My advisee of mine and believes he can get credit for outside activities like body building, being a personal trainer, etc. He says there has been a precedent where students have been waived PE when they have such accomplishments, how do I go about receiving credit for such accomplishments?

I almost have completed the fifteen signatures needed to earn a .5 PE credit. However, I then realized that I had to be registered for Recreation/Wellness. As a freshman, I did not register for my courses on Web Advisor for my fall semester courses. Therefore, I did not know we needed to register for it. Since I almost have all my signatures, can I still hand it in and register for the following semester but still use these signatures since I have them completed?

I am interested in having a Personal Training at Philadelphia University; if I attend Personal Training Sessions will I receive PE credit for my attendance.

No, Personal Training does not fall under the pre-approved list of possible options for PE-02 credit.

Do I have to attend the full duration of the Group Exercise Class or Lunch and Learn?

To receive a signature (credit) for attendance and participation, you must stay for the entire duration of the class/event.

 

I lost my PE-02 form, and it had almost all 15 signatures, what do I do?

We suggest that you scan your PE-02 form as you acquire valid signatures. If you lose your Recreation/Wellness Physical Education Credit form there is nothing we can do. You cannot receive credit unless you turn in a completed form, with all 15 valid signatures, at the proper due date at the end of your registered semester.
